Ripon - A Family Favourite
The picturesque setting and compact layout make Ripon a favourite destination for family outings. Racing is always free for children accompanied by an adult and, with a hatful of weekend and Bank Holiday fixtures, there are plenty of opportunities to get everyone together for a great day out at Ripon Races.
Children’s Day on Monday 6th August is made extra special for the kids with free ice cream, face-painting and a host of children’s rides and fun inflatables in the course enclosure.
Why go to Ripon Races?
Located approximately two miles from the centre of the small, bustling market town of Ripon, ‘Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse’ provides a unique setting for the sport of kings.
The spacious paddock, always resplendent with immaculate floral designs, greets you on entrance. Your proximity to the horses as they parade creates a live buzz of anticipation for the top-class racing action in store.
Racing Highlights
Feature meetings include:
The Ripon Bell Ringer Handicap (19 July), The William Hill Great St Wilfred Handicap (August 16) and the Ripon Champion Two-Year-old Trophy (August 25).
Summer fun at the races
On Saturday 19 July, Ripon Racecourse will be the first stop for the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival Of Racing.
The Festival, the first of its kind in the UK, aims to raise the profile of the sport and attract new visitors to the county.
Nic Coward, chief executive of the British Horseracing Association, thinks the Festival will have a lasting impact. “The Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival is a fantastic initiative”, he said.
“We have no doubt that Yorkshire will make this a huge success and it will be a recognised highlight in years to come”.
The Festival runs from 19 to 27 August and will visit all eight of Yorkshire’s courses that stage Flat racing.
